Using Flextivity On A Client Computer

About

Flextivity can be accessed on a client computer from the top menu bar.  Depending on how you have configured your Policies, this toolbar may provide access to some additional features.

 

Full Scan

The Full Scan will scan all files and folders for the chosen disk or volume.  Any available locations will be displayed in the window that appears:

 

 

Once you have selected the destinations, click the Scan button and a new window will appear displaying the scanner progress.  You can minimize this window.  You will be notified when the scan has been completed.

 

 

Quick Scan

This only scans locations where malware is commonly installed. The files and folders scanned may change as new malware appears, and the locations scanned may be different with newer versions of virus definitions.

 

 

 

Scan Files / Folders

This allows you to scan individual files or folders.  You will be presented with a window to select the particular file or folder you would like to scan.  Click the Scan button to scan your selection.

 

  

Trusted Items

Flextivity offers the option to add files, folders or volumes to a list of Trusted Items. Flextivity will assume that these files are all safe and will not scan them. You should only use this for files that have already been scanned.

 

  

Quarantined Files

Infected files will be placed in the Quarantine.  When files are quarantined you will have the options to Trust, Delete, or Repair the infected file.  Infected files should not be trusted unless you are certain they are safe.  It is recommended that the Repair option be used first when an infected file is detected.  If a file cannot be repaired, the Delete feature can be used to delete the file completely from the computer.

 

 

Network Monitor

The Network Monitor displays the applications on your Mac that are actively using the network.  This helps you understand, at a glance, which applications are using your network bandwidth.

When an application is using the network, one or more arrows will be shown in the left or right columns adjacent to the application name.  Orange arrows in the left column indicate the application receiving Incoming Data.  Blue arrows in the right column indicate Outgoing Data leaving the application.  The number of arrows drawn indicates how busy the application is relative to other applications using the network. 

The other type of application you probably have on your Mac using the network is an application that is Listening for connection requests from other computers or devices on the local network.  These are represented with 'four dots and an ear' shown to the right of the application.

 

  

Blocked Applications

The Blocked Applications displays applications that cannot be accessed on the computer.  You can view which applications are blocked for each profile by using the View by Profile menu at the bottom of the Blocked Applications list.  Viewing the different profiles will not change the currently blocked applications.

 

  

Active Profile

Displays the currently enabled profile and provides a list of other available profiles.

 

Administration

This option allows an Administrator to login to Flextivity's Administration tools to make changes to current configurations.  The "Forgot Password?" link can be used to reset an Administrator's password.
